Hello,
I am Aletha Jo Lane, an artist living in San Antonio, Texas.
To describe my style, I could explain that I love the natural world,
especially the living things in their elemental settings.
I love children, animals, plants etc.
I never tire of the interplay of light, water, air and earth.
I suppose a pond is actually beautiful in most cases, but
the image of a pond, for example, also carries all my experience with all the accompanying emotion, memories etc. I think
that most people look at paintings, each with his/her own personal filter.
I grew up in Live Oak county, and went to school in the small town
of George West in South Texas. Being born in 1951, I did not really see rain until I was around five years old. In those
days, we did not have air conditioning. Rain clouds, rivers, ponds, the first northern were all especially welcome. I remember
mother watering the grass in our yard (out in the country) and the wet circle made by the sprinkler was completely covered
with birds. I remember the hard bare earth of that decade of drought.
Add to all that my love of experimentation with processes and substances to create. That love of experimentation carries
over into the processes I use in creating art and into my culinary adventures in my kitchen. I'm the happiest in the project
process. Because of that leaning, as a child, one of my favorite playtime activities was "making mud pies" and, as we artists
like to joke, we are still making mud pies.
So suffice it to say - I have a variety of medium, so peruse my galleries and hopefully enjoy.
Purchase or commission something. Your support will be appreciated.
If you are interested in investing in art, see Investment Page.
I have an associated artists page. Go there to see the work of other artists and perhaps purchase something great from
them through this, my website.
Come back again and often, I will be adding art as I complete pieces in my home studio.
Thank you for visiting.
Aletha
